What makes the parables so intriguing and mysterious is how Jesus is always challenging his disciples and those in the crowds of their preconceived assumptions – about themselves, others and God. There always seems to be a twist, turn and reversal at the heart of Jesus’ parables that offers more than a simple truth or takeaway. Life isn’t always that simple nor is being a follower of Jesus.
