Welcome to Glocal Ministries

How Do I Get Involved?

Glocal Ministries are centered around 4 Focus Areas; read more below for how to engage each area. You can also download our Glocal Events Calendar 2017-2018 to see where to engage weekly, monthly, etc., and learn about our Vision and Theological Basis here.

1. Homelessness & Hunger

The Bridge Care Center

The Bridge Care Center is a drop-in center for men and women experiencing homelessness or economic hardship in the Ballard neighborhood run by Quest Church. Volunteers are needed for two-hour shifts Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, to host clothing drives, or to support special events.

Sharing the Harvest

$10 = 10lb. bag of apples = 2 trees planted in the Central African Republic
We buy local apples, the funds are multiplied and used to plant trees and build indigenous agricultural leaders through the ECC’s global development arm, Covenant World Relief.  A truly global + local event, Sharing the Harvest occurs each September/October. Volunteers are needed once per year to purchase apples, help bag and deliver from Yakima, and distribute the bags at the church.

Bread for the World

We partner with Bread for the World, a Christian advocacy organization, to speak into the political process on behalf of poor and hungry people in the US and around the world. We write letters to our representatives during our annual Offering of Letters as an act of discipleship in our worship. Volunteers are needed once per year in the spring to write letters, help man collection tables, and pray for the systemic realities involved in food justice and hunger.

2. Immigration & Refugee Advocacy

Immigration & Refugee Advocacy Cohort

Our church engages immigration reform and refugee engagement through educational opportunities and special events to help us get involved in both the local/personal and global/structural levels. This Cohort facilitates connecting all those interested or involved in this area of ministry, and works year-round with local partners Puentes (in south Seattle), and World Relief Seattle (Kent, WA.) Volunteers are needed to attend events, pray, advocate, come alongside refugees, teach ESL classes, host families, and more.

Middle East Ministry Cohort

New as of Fall 2017, we are gathering those active in both local and overseas relationships with Middle Eastern populations. This Cohort facilitates connecting all those interested or involved in this area of ministry. Volunteers are needed to attend quarterly Cohort meetings for networking, prayer, and support.

3. Racial Justice & Reconciliation

Racial Justice & Reconciliation

Our church is a multiethnic community intentionally living out our faith in a diverse city and world. We are committed to faithfully and critically engaging this as a central part of our discipleship in the Body of Christ, and work to support all ages – families, parents, children, and adults – in their understanding, identity formation, and advocacy around faith and race.

One way we do this is through partnerships with local organizations that strengthen our awareness of communities of color that we depend on but are not located directly within. Volunteers are needed to support these organizations in their Community Groups through our Mission Partner Match-Up.

  • Urban Impact (serving youth and families in the Rainier Valley)
  • Mending Wings (helping faith formation of youth on the Yakama Reservation)

A-Team: Faith & Race Action Team

This group meets throughout the year to advocate, encourage, and educate the wider church about issues of faith and racial justice, and helps support the annual Faith & Race Class held each February. Volunteers are needed to help plan quarterly events, lead break out groups, oversee advocacy and creative projects, and more.

4. Global Presence & Development

Mission Partner Match-Up

Community Groups are each invited to choose one of Quest’s Mission Partners to be matched with for the year in order to learn more about their ministry, provide prayer support, and go deeper in reciprocal relationship. Volunteers are needed each fall to be the point person from their C-Group to help facilitate this connection between your group and the appointed Mission Partner.

Thailand Partnership

Quest has a longstanding relationship with Bob & Grace Shim, ECC Regional leaders based in Thailand, and has sent teams there since 2012. Our vision is to continue to partner through both medical and educational efforts in ways that build up local leaders and expose our volunteers to how God is at work in Thailand. Volunteers are needed for annual trips to Thailand; more information is shared when trips and specifics are available.
