Hey Eugene,
I just wanted to say that I loved what you did with this passage on Sunday. I've often mentally grouped this story in with the "kill all the women, babies, and animals" passages in the OT - and just have not known where to go with it. I really appreciated how you brought out the idea that Ananias and Sapphira were trying to receive more credit than should get - I can think of so many places where that dynamic plays out in community (not Quest specifically, but in general).
So, thanks for your vulnerability and hard work on that one!

Yes, I kind of shelved this story until now (not that I believe any part of Scirpture should get "shelved", but just to be truthful) (OK, well, um the OT lineage stuff...?) (well, no, I can see that has some points too- starting that we're all part of a bigger story) Thanks for giving us a new perspective!

Another good point was about the authenticity of the story: it takes some amount of courage to let the events stand on their own weight. I'm currently trying to write my faith story as part of Quest's membership process, and it's difficult to resist cherrypicking events from my life in order to try and present myself as some sort of amazing follower of Jesus. So I appreciate the fact that Acts is not all sweetness and light - it's real.
