WHAT IS 'TO THE STREETS'?To the Streets is simple: it is a ministry of presence and the living out of the teachings of Jesus to "˜go'. In 2002, we started a ministry of supportive services, case management, counseling, referral services and giving out basic supplies like clothing, hygiene products and blankets to the homeless. Initially our ministry was lived out through our space in the café, but over time we realized that the ministry must be more"¦ That in addition to waiting to host, support and care for the homeless through our café space and at our café space we had to "˜go' to the very places where the homeless worked, played and rested"¦ to the streets. To the streets meets every month on the third Saturday of the month to provide people with basic resources and supplies in order for people to be able to survive the external conditions of our city. We also give men and women information on housing, shelter, job placement and education services in our city.
WHEN & WHEREWe meet the third Saturday of the month from 1-3pm at 15th and Market (on the corner in front of Safeway). Volunteers meet up at Q Cafe on that Saturday at 11.45am. We load up our cars and head down to set up stations and be ready for distribution.
